Pain is pervasive not just in the United States, but globally. Pain is a public health problem that costs society somewhere over $600 billion per year. Chronic pain can be caused by a host of different conditions, from arthritis, cancer, tick borne disease, neurodegenerative disorders, spinal disorders, cancer, and various neurogenic pain syndromes.

Oasis Integrative Medicine’s mission is to help control pain without the use of addictive drugs but rather through innovative modalities. Dr. Dave uses a combination of osteopathic manipulative medicine, natural and pharmaceutical sonogram-guided injections, nutraceuticals, medical cannabis (based on NY State guidelines), compounded LDN (low-dose naltrexone), medical acupuncture, low-inflammatory diet, ergonomics, stretching and exercise regimes.

The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies notes that there are well over 100 million americans in chronic pain, which is four times that of diabetic patients, and approximately 10 times that of coronary heart disease patients, in the U.S. Spinal pain in the lumbar region is the most common type of pain, according to the National Institute of Health Statistics . Back pain is the leading causes of disabilities in the U.S. over 25 years of age. More than 26 million Americans between the ages of 20 and 64 years suffer with back pain . Greater than 51% of patients that were surveyed in 2006 in the American Pain Foundation study, said that they had little or no control over their pain. 60% said, they have breakthrough pain one or more time per day, even while on medication.

More than 77% of those patients reported feeling depressed, 70% have trouble concentrating, 74% have low level of energy, secondary to pain and 86% or better are unable to sleep well. The costs to the U.S. work force due to back pain, including lost productivity, absenteeism, high medical costs and insurance premiums, is catastrophic. Chronic pain doesn’t just affect the patient, but their family, friends and coworkers.
