Pain management is an ever evolving field. Now more than ever with the opioid crisis, physicians and medical researchers need to come up with alternative pain treatment options.

Medical cannabis has been used since the earliest of times for a multitude of different health maladies. It gives those that qualify under New York State guidelines to be certified to successfully use medical cannabis as a primary or adjunct part of their overall pain management program.

A proper ratio of CBD and THC yields wonderful results in most patients, without the toxic effect of certain medications that have high addiction profiles. Medical cannabis yields better results than just using CBD products or the whole marijuana plant. THC and CBD have to be taken together in various ratios to activate the “entourage effect”of the medicinal qualities of the cannabis.

New York State offerings at this point are sublingual tinctures, CO2 extracted vaporizing oil’s versus the butane extracted versions of many recreational products, as well as capsules.

The New York state qualifying conditions at this time are as follows:

  • Chronic Pain

  • Spinal Injury

  • Neuropathy

  • Seizures

  • Neurodegenerative Disease (Parkinson’s/ALS/MS/Huntington’s Disease)

  • Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohns/Ulcerative Colitis)

  • PTSD

  • Cancer

  • HIV/AIDS

  • Severe spasms, cachexia (wasting syndromes), nausea,

  • Spasticity

More qualifying conditions are being added all the time.
