Musculoskeletal Pain Management

inflammed brain

Musculoskeletal pain affects the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and bones which may be accompanied by stiffness and swelling. The pain can be either acute (rapid onset with severe symptoms) or chronic (long-lasting) and it can also be limited to one area, or widespread. Fibromyalgia is an example of a disorder that is characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain.

The exact causes of musculoskeletal pain are varied. Muscle tissue may sometimes be damaged by the wear and tear of ordinary daily activities or even moderate exercise. More often though, musculoskeletal pain is due to some form of trauma to an area (e.g.; fractures, sprains, dislocations, and/or direct blows to the muscle).

Other causes may include frequent and repetitive movements, overuse, or being immobilized for long periods of time. Postural strain or faulty body mechanics may result in spinal misalignment problems and muscle shortening, subsequently causing other muscles to be overused and become sore or painful.

The symptoms of musculoskeletal pain can be as varied as the causes; those afflicted sometimes complain that they ache all over. Others report that their muscles may feel like they have been overworked or pulled. Still others  by that their muscles twitch or burn, but the most common symptoms are aches and pains, accompanied by fatigue and sleep disorders.

LDN (low-dose naltrexone) is a very effective compounded medical agent for chronic neurological and inflammatory pain syndromes. It is safe alternative to opioids and NSAIDs. Opioids have an addiction profile cause cognitive decline, are a huge source of criminal activity, riddled with overdoses and societal abuses. NSAIDs are not safe for the kidneys and stomach due to their ability to cause nephrotoxicity gastritis, ulcers and increase bleeding risks. Studies have shown LDN helpful in Fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, complex regional pain syndrome, spinal pain and many other chronic pain disorder‘s. LDN works at the glial cell level as a modulator in the nervous system. Some may have heard of Narcan which is naltrexone at much higher doses. LDN is typically 2.0 to 4.5 mg dosing. LDN has been shown to help with profound fatigue, cognitive disruption and sleep disruption that is associated with chronic pain. Many double blinded research studies have been done to show the benefit of LDN to date. LDN is available as a compounded pill which is very inexpensive and extremely effective.
